Whether Dr. Jerner is consulting as an expert witness for the plaintiff or defendant, or conducting an accident investigation or metallurgical failure analysis for an industrial client, he pursues each investigation completely as an "independent finder of fact." For over 45 years, Dr. Jerner has served his clients as a:
- Metallurgical Engineer
- Metallurgical researcher
- Professor of metallurgical engineering
- Metallurgical engineering expert witness
- Failure analyst
- And accident investigator
His research experience in metallurgy at the Denver Research Institute and Oklahoma University helped to form the foundation and investigative philosophy that he applies to failure analysis and accident investigation.
Dr. Jerner’s philosophy:
- To investigate all evidence as thoroughly as possible
- Develop the most probable accident scenarios
- Observe and thoroughly document facts
- Identify the root cause that lies behind each incident.
- Clearly present facts to his clients, legal counsel or jury
Dr. Jerner’s extensive list of industrial, corporate and government clients utilize Dr. Jerner’s failure analysis, accident investigations, litigation consultant and metallurgical expert witness for their investigation needs for the past 45 years. The extensive client lists and Dr. Jerner’s complete Curriculum Vitae can be viewed in the links below.
When Dr. Jerner taught metallurgy and metallurgical engineering at the University of Oklahoma in the 1960s and 1970s, colleagues said "If you cut up Craig Jerner into the smallest possible pieces and looked at those pieces with a scanning electron microscope, you would see 'TEACHER OF METALLURGY' stamped onto each small piece." Since the day he taught his first metallurgy class as a college senior (his major metallurgical engineering professor was a consulting metallurgist in another city), his challenge has been to "simplify complex engineering principles and findings into easily understood concepts." He uses simple, easily understood, everyday analogies to explain facts, investigative findings, and expert opinions to clients, legal counsel and juries.
