Automobile Steering Failure

Did Wheel Loss Cause SUV Rollover?

A metallurgical examination of an axle failure was requested to determine if the wheel loss caused an SUV rollover or if the SUV rollover caused the wheel loss.

Visual and microscopic examination revealed that the axle failure was actually a steering component failure caused by impact forces resulting from the SUV rollover.  No metallurgical or manufacturing defect was found to account for pre-accident failure of the SUV axle.
