Travelers ID Tips
Helpful tips to prevent a stressful flight and trip:
- Don't use driver's license for airline ID. You can't replace your license
while out of town and you can't rent a car without your drivers license.
- Carry two forms of picture ID. Keep them in two separate locations, wallet,
carryon, brief case, etc.
- Arrange a back-up ID plan. Leave another form of ID with a relative or friend so
it can be overnight mailed to you.
- Separate credit cards and cash. Do not keep your credit cards and cash and
photo IDs in the same holder.
- Travel light. Leave home all unnecessary credit cards, checks, documents,
social security card and photo IDs.
- Carry Emergency Phone Numbers. Carry the customer service phone numbers of
your credit cards and banks.
- Keep Inventory of critical items in your wallet or purse. When under
stress, it's easy to forget what you are carrying with you. Keep your inventory in a separate location.
- Immediately contact your credit card company. Most major credit card
companies will close the old account, open a new account and send new cards within 24 - 48 hours. They may also allow charges such as a hotel room to be placed over the phone.
- File a Police Report. This will be necessary if you must dispute any misuse
of cards, file for insurance or tax claims.
